WALLIX Offers Businesses Solutions to Secure DevOps Activities without Affecting Productivity

  • DevOps, key to competitiveness and the digital transformation: A target market of WALLIX’s strategic Ambition21 plan
  • WALLIX AAPM and WALLIX RESTFUL API: The new solutions letting DevOps make development secure by design without affecting productivity

WALLIX (Euronext – ALLIX), a European expert in privileged account management (PAM), is launching new cybersecurity solutions adapted to DevOps development methods and the automation tools they use to reduce their production cycles. Remaining competitive and in step with their markets requires organisations to have the ability to adapt rapidly, which translates into heavy demands being placed on DevOps teams. But one in two developers believe that they don’t have enough time to dedicate to security matters and a DevOps team put under heavy pressure to reduce timescales may – if not equipped with adapted security tools – create significant security flaws in companies’ infrastructures. With its new solutions, WALLIX is targeting the DevOps tools market, which Gartner values at more than 4.2 billion dollars in 2019 and which will be a real growth accelerator for WALLIX.

DEVOPS SOLUTIONS FROM WALLIX: INTEROPERABILITY, TRANSPARENCY, SIMPLICITY

Cybersecurity must accommodate DevOps teams, who develop, install, test, deploy and operate infrastructures and applications in a single operational cycle and on radically shortened timescales.

To meet these new security needs, WALLIX has enhanced its WALLIX Bastion software suite to offer DevOps and their managers levels of protection adapted to their tools and methods – all without affecting their effectiveness. These new functions simplify and secure the automation of the most complex DevOps processes through two innovative approaches:

  • Application-to-Application Password Management (AAPM): this functionality lets you separate DevOps tools (for example, automatic cloud infrastructure deployment) from knowledge of the credentials necessary to these tasks. With APPM, DevOps no longer need to know the credentials of target machines, as these are securely stored in WALLIX Bastion. As all these credentials are encrypted by APPM, there is a real guarantee of non-disclosure in the event of user accounts for these tools being compromised. This is also the case for the machines that DevOps work on: in the event of attacks, WALLIX protects the credentials and so prevents access to the company’s data, offering peace of mind to DPOs and CISOs.
  • WALLIX Bastion RESTFulAPI: when DevOps program scalable infrastructures, they need the security of these infrastructures to scale up simultaneously. As the infrastructure automatically deploys, the protection capacity is also deployed, and the infrastructure is thus made secure natively and by design. With privilege access protection, it must be possible to automatically create instances of WALLIX Bastion dynamically: this is the role of the classic APIs of PAM-type tools. But WALLIX goes further by offering DevOps the option to access all the functions available in WALLIX Bastion through its API. The proof lies in the fact that Bastion’s new human-machine interface itself accesses WALLIX Bastion’s functions through its APIs, demonstrating that WALLIX Bastion is completely programmable by DevOps, offering complete freedom to act and a finesse of configuration unrivaled on the market.

COST CONTROL AND RISK MANAGEMENT SUPPORT

WALLIX Bastion, with its AAPM function and its RESTFul API, can be deployed on on-premises, cloud and hybrid interfaces, making it perfectly adapted for continuous control and management of the work of DevOps teams and charting their operations. Enhanced by these two new functions, WALLIX Bastion can now meet the upstream security needs of DevOps without affecting productivity at all.

Serge Adda, CTO of WALLIX, says: “We devised these solutions by reflecting on the specificities of DevOps and the most crucial of their security problems. With these two new features, our ambition is to support our clients in their DevOps strategy by enabling security risk management throughout their cycle of develop-test-build-deploy-run, while maintaining the advantages of the WALLIX Bastion: a low and completely controlled cost of ownership, unrivaled ease of deployment and transparency of use for users.
